Customers
You can make an
impact in your local community by contacting your local business and
asking them to commit to the above set of commitments. By more businesses willing to be
socially conscious about consumer debt, we will have more support in our
efforts to beat debt together.
Here are some other ways you can support a responsible shopping experience:
Be critical of advertisements.
Know your budget before going into a marketplace.
Expect to recieve all pertinent information before a transaction.
Understand the company you are buying from, i.e. Are they fair trade? Environmentally friendly? Support your beliefs? or Do they give back towards charity that you would support?
Encourage others to shop responsibly.
Customers: Ensure you "Shop Responsibly" at the business members making the commitment to helping us beat debt.
BeatingDebt.org noticed that many alcohol companies placed on all their advertisements the term "Drink Responsibly". These words were in response to the cigarette companies receiving massive litigation. The alcohol industry chose to place this small blurb on all their advertisements in hopes to warn customers of the potential hazards that can happen from using their product and thereby minimizing their own litigation.
How much more can almost all products be a hazard to our budget when not purchased responsibly?

let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily
entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
